GIEN's classic seaweed and oyster shell pattern is truly one of the most beautiful and natural looking of French majolica oyster plates. The glazing is in every shade of celadon and turquoise...the details of the seaweed is exceptional. The plate dates from the 's and is in excellent condition. The plate is a little over 9 inches wide and marked with Gien France. We are once again Moving. Not out of France, Mais Non jamais, rather to our house in the vines...the one we have been working on for so long. Mais Oui. It is there we belong, surrounded by rural beauty and the peacefulness of nature. Where kids can run naked through the pastures and forests without offending anyone and I can once again hang my laundry to dry on a line outside where it can blow dry in the wind and smell divine. (You know I have 6 boys don't you?) The bucolic beauty of the "blé" golden wheat, the gorgeous "grappes"grapes, the "cocquelicot" red poppies and "fleur sauvage" wild flowers await us all. Then the calm of an untraveled road sauf pour the "facteur" postman, and pulling veggies up from our own "potager" jardin for the freshest meals once again is reassuring. All in time to finish out the childrens primary school years in small stone country "ecole" school with our daily "pain" delivered into our mailbox when it's too hot to bake... we can't wait. Even the "etoiles" stars perform their theater nightly illuminating the heavens with a starry night fête we thrill to see. Because we'll once again be living Outside we'll have the chance to pull all the garden furniture out onto the lawns (I think I easily have 300 chairs) and all my eclectic collection of colorful linens for dressing tabletops and seat cushions à la bohemians that we truly are. La Vita al fresco é tutta bella à la castillo viticole....et magnifique ! So we'll be a bit like vagabonds living out of our essential napsacs at first...then gradually pulling more of the household over as we decide what will go where the best. It's a bit of a conundrum. Yes I've got this four storied bourgeois house in ville piled high. It reminds me of the Jenga game where you pull out a piece and risk to have the whole thing tumble. Yipes! I might find lost and nearly forgotten treasures, discover small furried friends distantly related to Mickey Mouse in our house then jump with a start to see those relatives of Charlotte about. I try to accept them as allies in our fight against bugs but all those eyes..I just can't figure out which two to look at. All in all I"m just so happy to be returning to our country home, our humble chateau, our baby's "berceau" cradle of some years ago. ~~ "Alors" Well Then ~~ I'll be "fairing le triage" sorting out objects to sell so keep watching for surprises. ????????????????? the small Print ???????????????
