IT'S A FABULOUS FRENCH MAJOLICA ASPARAGUS PLATE SALINS LES BAINS. Decorated in the center with white asparagus spears with purple tips on an asparagus leaf, with artichoke. This plate as a lovely original patina due to use and age (See p. 75 of the asparagus reference book, artichauts et asperges en barbotine, by Maryse Bottero) IT IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH NO CHIPS, CRACKS OR REPAIRS. a little defect on the ballot (see photo N1 & 2). In , Claude-Francois Rigal came to work at Salins, where he introduced his wonderful Rubelles technique. The Rubelles technique was invented in France around and it can best be described as a lithograph onto ceramics. The majolica production at Salins seems to have been limited to pieces for daily use, such as asparagus and artichoke plates and servers and dessert services.
