All hand sewn in buttery soft black felt with an undulating edged wide brim and a shallow crown. Grosgrain ribbon surrounds the crown and sits to the front in a wide upright bow across the entire front. Small velvet florals with little droplets are the only adornment. The original hat pin is still at the back of the hat and is included in the sale. This is a very rare survivor, over 100 years old and still in such beautiful wearable condition. This lovely hat has something of the 'Mary Poppins' in its adorable styling. In excellent true vintage condition, pristine clean and totally wearable. Very fine black silk ribbon work rosettes surround the brim, black silk chiffon is also used in suaves around the crown. A black hat pin of the period sits to the back (included in sale). A very long fine veil (perfect) is thrown over the whole hat, this was used during mourning. The hat is all hand sewn and is beautifully crafted. This is a very rare collectors piece or museum piece.
